Welcome!

GAP is a Bible-centered ministry that helps equip parents with a deeper understanding of the Christian worldview and apologetics (how to make a case for and defend the truth of Christianity). Our passion is to help close the “GAP” that exists for parents between knowing the world will challenge their kids’ faith and knowing what to do about it.

Research has repeatedly shown that an astounding number of kids (at least 60%) are walking away from the Christian faith they were raised with, and less than half return to some level of church involvement. (You can find a list of the many related studies here.) Kids are rejecting Christianity because they no longer believe it’s true. At GAP, we believe that kids must be better prepared for the challenging secular world they’ll encounter. They need to know what they believe and why they believe it so they can have a deeply rooted and confident faith that’s ready to withstand today’s challenges. This knowledge will also enable them to boldly share their faith with others and give a defense when challenged. As 1 Peter 3:15 tells us, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have.”

Parents have the primary responsibility for raising their kids with an understanding of these answers. Unfortunately, however, most parents are unequipped themselves, and are often very intimidated, to teach their children apologetics. GAP wants to change that by working through establishing GAP chapters (at churches, schools, in homes, and online) that bring parents together for regular meetings where they’ll receive ongoing apologetics training and support.

GAP chapters complete two 10- to 12-week studies together each year (one in the Fall and one in the Winter/Spring). All GAP chapters complete the same first two studies: Keeping Your Kids on God's Side then Talking with Your Kids about God. In the first study (Keeping Your Kids on God's Side), parents learn about 40 of the most common challenges to Christianity today, across the major subjects of God, Jesus, truth and worldviews, the Bible, and science. In the second study (Talking with Your Kids about God), parents dive into 30 deeper subjects about God specifically. In the second GAP year, GAP chapters choose from a list of recommended resources for further studies.
